Congratulations to Esther Majani on being awarded a coveted Aga Khan Foundation International Post-graduate Scholarship.

Congratulations to Esther Majani on being awarded a coveted Aga Khan Foundation International Post-graduate Scholarship to study for a Master of Public Health Behaviour at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Esther has been awarded US$30,000 to enable her to study at Chapel Hill, which is renowned for its public health programmes.

Esther graduated from Mzizima in 2005 where she studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology at ‘A’ level. She then went on to Wichita State University, Kansas, USA to take a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Management and Community Development and graduated with a 3.91 grade point average. Esther has been invited to become a member of the extremely select Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

As she was growing up, Esther has said, she was encouraged to become a doctor because she was good at science. Esther’s interests, however, lay in public health which she knew is a vital part of dealing with the diseases afflicting her fellow Tanzanians.

Well done, Esther and we look forward to your return to Tanzania to make your contribution to building the nation.
