Celebrating Earth Day

10 May 2009

Earth our homeland, a place which is by nature so clean, serene, calm, colourful and refreshing Now that its beauty bemuses all.

Earth our homeland, a place which is by nature so clean, serene, calm, colourful and refreshing Now that its beauty bemuses all. The sweet fragrance of flowers, the fresh breeze, the cold water, the clear sky, the chirping of birds and the green grass makes the earth a gift of God almighty to all mankind. However it is disheartening to see how these days our earth is being damaged, polluted & destroyed by us. If we take a survey of our environment we come to know that how bad we are with our mother earth. Most of our acts today endanger earth and its beauty. Through the industrial waste we spoil river and lake waters; through the traffic we spoil the air around us. Some of us realize how grave this matter is and try to create awareness about how mother earth can be protected from being destroyed. Hence a day is celebrated each year when we take a pledge that we will stop our evil habits & activities which are destroying earth.

On 22nd April we celebrated the earth day for our benefit, our protection and our safety in the school. We started our day with an assembly presentation on the topic of “Save Mother Earth” where we advocated the need to keep the earth save from various kinds of pollution. To participate actively in such activities those support the cause. Few classes designed badges & cards with expressions related to the earth day. Many of us wrote or resolutions as to what we could do on individual basis to support the cause. Cleaning the school and neighbouring vicinity was yet another activity in which the class participated. Some people don’t recognize the fact and blame only the government to take action. I would like to tell them that we are equally responsible and we should try to alter our ways and conserve the beauty of earth. So from now on we all should promise that we will rescue our world from this disaster.
