Twenty-one students from the IB Diploma 1 class were selected through an application process, to be part of the inaugural year of the program. The vision of the Student Leadership Program is:

To Develop ethically strong, knowledgeable, self aware leaders who understand and are able to demonstrate leadership through creating positive change in today’s society.”

Although this vision is lofty, it is one that is achievable. Through a powerful curriculum, strong facilitation, bright students and purposeful resources our student leaders will develop their leadership skills to enable them to succeed in the rest of their careers.

During the course of the year, students explored topics ranging from “What is Leadership,” to Emotional Intelligence and Ethics and Spirituality. Students walked away with conceptual and tangible learning. Many students of the program have already started mentioning the Student Leadership Program on their CVs, in interviews and applications for leadership positions, amongst other opportunities. Students that have went through the program during the 2008-09 school year include the President and Vice President of the Student Council, and 70 percent of the School Prefects.
