We are very pleased to announce that Mr Thomas Benjamin has taken up post as Headteacher of the Aga Khan Nursery. Mr Benjamin, who originally comes from Durban in South Africa, has over 25 years experience of teaching and managing in education. He is extremely well-qualified with a Master’s degree in educational management from Massey University as well as a Bachelor’s degree in education.
Mr Benjamin’s teaching career has taken him from South Africa to New Zealand and now to Tanzania.
Before coming to Tanzania Mr Benjamin was the Headteacher of Orakei School in New Zealand. In addition to leading the school, he was responsible for managing a large team of advisory teachers with city-wide responsibilities.
Thomas is committed to ensuring that children are safe and happy at school and that they have a good grounding in literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills to enable them to successfully extend their learning through research and independent learning. He has a keen interest in information technology and has initiated ground-breaking initiatives in the use of technology to aid children’s learning.
His educational philosophy is summarised in the Maori phrase, ‘he tamariki, he tamariki, he tamariki’: ‘it is children, children, and children!’

Islam Kyzy Kurmanzhan, a Grade 11 student from the Aga Khan School (AKS), Osh, Kyrgyz Republic has been accepted to The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program in the USA for the 2017-2018 academic year.
