We had the opportunity to discuss and debate solutions on world’s most pressing issues in our respective committees. In these debates most of the students were given the opportunity to improve their oratory skills, overcome stage fright and gain confidence. Although difficult the students learnt how to debate issues that they felt strongly about without letting their emotions control their chain of thought.

In addition, some of the students had the chance to debate in the Special Summit on certain controversial issues such as torture, legalizing prostitution and whaling (killing of whales) in the Australian waters.

The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi students learned a lot and were constantly reminded that the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. The decisions we make will impact our future and that of other future generations in our societies, countries and the world as a whole.
