World Math Day

30 May 2011

Every year students around the world celebrate World Mathematics Day.

Every year students around the world celebrate World Mathematics Day. Aga Khan Junior Academy students, no doubt, proved to be enthusiastic and creative mathematicians! They dressed down into countless types of creative mathematical garb and celebrated mathematics by dividing into randomly selected groups to participate in centres with different mathematical activities.

They calculated time zones, measured the height and length of their bodies and limbs and even made mango juice using measurements! The most important lesson learnt during this day is that Mathematics is around us in so many ways. The students' also used numbers to measure and shapes to compare, and discovered that patterns are everywhere and are an integral part of Mathematics.

Students of the school also reflected on how lucky they are to have a school to learn in and can afford to eat three square meals a day (sometimes more). To take action with empathy, they collected, sorted and distributed food to those who are less fortunate than us. Thank you everybody for all your support!
