Sports and physical activity play an important role in developing a child both physically and mentally, and we at the Aga Khan Academies firmly believe in the holistic development of the child.
In keeping with our focus on providing a balanced learning environment that includes regular physical activity, the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa hosted two Under 9 Soccer Tournaments for boys and girls respectively. Saturday, 5 May 2012 was the date chosen for the tournaments, and the day started off on a very positive note with the sunny weather complementing the children’s excited frame of minds.
The Under 9 Girls' Soccer Tournament saw three teams participating and playing each other in a round robin format. The teams comprised of Jaffery Academy, Light Academy, and the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa. Jaffery Academy won the tournament by collecting a total of 8 points, while the Aga Khan Academy was a close second, also collecting 8 points but coming in as runners-up due to fewer goals scored.

The teams were Aga Khan Academy-A, Light Academy, Jaffery Academy, Oshwal Academy, Mombasa Academy, M.S.B-Al-Madrassa and Aga Khan Academy-B.
