Science is a powerful way of understanding and investigating the world. Science exhibitions are conducted as they serve as a perfect platform for the students to improve their skills in Science and exhibit their scientific temperament. To promote knowledge of science and technology and develop critical thinking about global issues, National Council for Education, Research and Training (NCERT) in co-ordination with SCERT (State) organised the 39th Jawaharlal Nehru National Exhibition for Science and Environmental Education - 2011.
Dr. T. Srinivas Rao, Director of National Institute of Technology, in the presence of other eminent personalities from the field, inaugurated the event at the Platinum Jubilee High School, Warangal. In his inaugural speech Dr. Rao stated that students need to dream big to achieve their goals for which one needs to have proper planning and desire to fulfil the plan and to prosper in this technological world. Various competitions like elocution, essay writing, quiz, science drama, songs and dance were conducted as a part of the fair.
Over 20,000 students from 190 schools visited the three-day fair. The exhibition revolved around themes like agriculture and Food Security, Energy resources and conservation, Health, Environmental Issues and Concerns, Mathematics, Disaster Management with 336 exhibits presented by Rural and Urban schools. Grammar books, notebook and T-shirts were distributed to rural girl children to encourage their participation.
It was a privilege for PJHS, Warangal not only to participate but also host an extensive and reputed event like the District Level Science Fair. At the divisional Science Exhibition, 12 students from our school presented six exhibits from which five were selected to be presented at the District Level and two qualified for the state level to be held in Vizag. One exhibit at the State Level under the theme "Cancer" qualified to present at the South Indian level.
Invitees, parents, teachers and students, were all in awe of the brilliant arrangements and hospitality offered by PJHS. The comfortable atmosphere and amicable staff provided a homely ambiance. This event brought added widespread recognition and goodwill for the school.
