Extra-Curricular Activities

The Diamond Jubilee High School (ICSE) recognizes the importance of a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom. Students at the School are therefore encouraged to pursue a wide range of intellectual, sporting and social activities. They participate in various inter-school activities such as debates, science exhibitions, creative writing and the arts. Students also participate in volleyball, football, table tennis, carrom, chess, fencing, athletics, karate and taikwando competitions.

The School Band

The School Band, with 25 students, plays at school functions, the annual Sports' Day and participates in various competitions. Students learn to play the drums, flute, bugle and percussion instruments.

Public Speaking

In order to develop their public speaking skills, students of all classes take part in elocution, declamation, debate and recitation competitions conducted in English, Hindi and Marathi.

Visits and Excursions

Regular visits and field trips are arranged to places of educational interest in and around the city. These visits are related to classroom topics and help reinforce learning. Each class also goes camping and hiking at least once a year as a part of their Scouts programme.

The School Gym

The School has a well-equipped gym. Students from grades 8 to 10 and teachers can avail of this facility.

Games and Sports

Various indoor games, including badminton, basketball, table-tennis, boxing, carrom, squash and chess as well as outdoor games like volleyball, football, basketball and cricket are organized by special coaches. Students pick a game for after school activity and are coached twice a week in the game of their choice.

Art

The School encourages students to sit for an Elementary and Intermediate Grade Drawing Examination, held every October. This is an effort to cultivate and develop the latent talents of our children.

Hope (Annual School Magazine)

Students from Class 8 to 10 play a major editorial role in the publication of the magazine, including collating content, editing, designing and coordinating the printing process. Hope features contributions from the students and teachers from pre-primary to Class 10.

DJ Buzz

The DJ Buzz is a student-run quarterly newsletter. Through this newsletter, the school keeps parents updated on the latest activities.
