Extra Curricular Activities
The Aga Khan Lycée in Khorog recognizes the importance of a well-rounded education that features activities beyond the classroom.
The extra-curricular clubs were organized to meet the leadership and citizenship objectives of the AKES graduate profile. This year every club is expected to give students opportunities to learn and practice
- Decision - making skills,
- Interpersonal skills,
- Community service, and
- Critical and evaluation skills
Students have a wide choice of clubs in which they can participate:
- 13 academic clubs such as Math, Computers, Russian, and Geography
- 11 cultural clubs such as Art, Music, and Handicrafts
- 4 sports clubs including Basketball and TaeKwonDo
- 4 citizenship clubs which are Business, Health, Tourism, and Civil Society
The students in the clubs choose and plan the projects that they want to complete. Teachers as well as community members facilitate the clubs’ activities to help the students meet their goals.
AKL Summer Camp
The AKL Summer Camp was first launched in 2006 in Khorog, Badakhshan,Tajikistan. It catered to participants from across the province. Since the first camp year, the primary goals have remained: to help participants develop their teamwork and leadership skills. Secondary goals are to help participants explore pluralism and civil society. A side from these, the camp is like any other positive experience: it’s a rich opportunity to discover oneself better and one’s relationship to others. Overall, the camp hopes to help young people develop more clarity, better thinking skills, and increased confidence and consciousness, so as to serve themselves and their societies to unimagined success. This is a first edition manual intended for the AKES Summer Camp, for years 2008 and beyond. And with permission, it can be used for camps held by other institutions worldwide.
The students participate in the annual "Olympiads" - a test of their general knowledge. These local, regional and national academic competitions are based on specific subjects.
AKL students have participated in the Regional (Oblast) and Republican competitions (Olympiads) that were conducted on the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Tajik language
- English language
- Russian language
- Law
The winners were awarded with certificates.
