From the Head of Academy
John Puddefoot
Head of AcademyThe Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad, is the second of a network of 18 academies which His Highness the Aga Khan plans to establish across Africa, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East. Their purpose is to provide a world-class education for exceptional students with strong leadership potential. We welcome students from any nation, especially Indian nationals, and members of all faiths. The students of the Academy will be a living embodiment of our commitment to pluralism, and as such reflect the full diversity of India and the world, including students from all socio-economic and religious backgrounds. Generous financial aid is available for students with demonstrated need.
The Academy promotes intellectual rigour through an approach to teaching and learning that is student-centered and inquiry-driven. This progressive approach emphasizes the development of critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. The Academy offers programmes based on the principles and practices of the International Baccalaureate (IB) to create a curriculum that is locally rooted and globally relevant. The IB Diploma enables students to earn places and scholarships at top universities worldwide.
We cater for students from primary to upper secondary level. Students in grades one to six study the Primary Years Programme; students in grades seven to ten study the Middle Years Programme; students in grades eleven and twelve study for the Diploma. Careful attention is paid to students’ academic achievement and to their physical, emotional, and spiritual development and well-being throughout their time with us.
A strong, nurturing residential programme is available for secondary students from grade seven upwards, fostering students’ self-discipline, personal responsibility, and leadership skills. Academy teachers serve as dorm parents, and the small student-to- teacher ratio in the residences ensures a disciplined and caring pastoral environment.
We invite interested parents to visit us for one of our daily tours or come to one of our open days. Appointments can be made by contacting us at admissions.hyderabad@agakhanacademies.org We are proud of our outstanding facilities, and would be pleased to share with you the excitement in learning that our students display. You will learn of the diversity of our curriculum and co-curricular life, and be impressed by our beautiful campus, which occupies 100 acres near to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
Welcome to The Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad!
