June 2011: PYP exhibition and GraduationJune 2011: PYP exhibition and Graduation
The Exhibition unit always brings with it a new wave of excitement and anticipation for the students as they lead the unit. The students took to the topic with a lot of fervor and from day one plunged into it. Along with the teachers and Head of the Primary section, the students went through the process of selecting the theme and topic along with creating the central idea themselves.

For this particular exhibition the chosen theme was "Sharing The Planet". The central idea was "Reduction of poverty and hunger can change the face of the world".

Students were split up in groups which were mentored by a teacher or a parent mentor. Students went around the school community to generate awareness about Poverty and Hunger. Students went for field trips, interviewed people, researched thoroughly to grasp how poverty and hunger, a man made global problem, is harming the human race. They worked very hard while trying to eradicate it from their community. They sold food items, held bake sales are made artifacts for selling, so that they could collect money to help a poor family. The students bought a rickshaw for that family.  For this purpose we got a lot of help from the parents as well. We had Mrs. Ajanee, who as a parent came and mentored a group. She took the students for field trips and guided them well. The culmination came when the students finally demonstrated their learning through presentations, movies, power points, role plays, poems, speeches and in many more ways. Parents and visiting schools were spellbound at the knowledge acquired by the grade V students. We thank everyone who helped us continue our journey as lifelong learners.
