A great school,
"will educate its students not merely to be personally successful but also to use their gifts to build their communities and enhance the common good to levels beyond our dreams."

Curriculum

The Shishu Pahel Paddhati© at the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) level is a well-researched methodology developed by the School. It is based on various international curricula but adapted to local needs.

The Aga Khan School, SidhpurThe Shishu Pahel Paddhati emphasizes child-initiated learning and encourages children to plan and develop self-paced learning. In this way, the student retains his/her natural self-confidence. To further strengthen the less tangible qualities, such as self-discipline, self-esteem and self-awareness, he or she is provided with opportunities for physical, emotional and social development. Classrooms are designed to be placed where students experience the joys of reading, verbal expression, mathematics, music, movement, water and sand play, art and craft. The complete teaching and learning process is child-initiated and fun.

At the primary level, teachers plan and design Curriculum Webs to ensure that every topic in the curriculum is related to other topics.

At the secondary level, the Gujarat state-prescribed curriculum is taught using innovative methods and activities. Lessons at all levels are facilitated through an integrated curriculum, supplemented by a variety of co-curricular activities, field trips and class projects.

Students also participate in number of inter-school activities such as elocution competitions, debates, science exhibitions, creative writing and the arts.

Education Philosophy
The School believes that:

  • Every child is potentially an independent thinker, with an infinite capacity to acquire knowledge,
  • Given the space, children are capable of constructing activities that lead to effective learning outcomes,
  • Child-centered education is the achievement of learning outcomes, wherein the pace and content of learning is directed by the child and supported by the facilitator (the teacher),
  • Children learn most effectively through collective reflections shared with peers and facilitators and through group discussions.
