The Shishu Pahel Paddhati© at the Early
Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) level, is
a well-researched methodology developed by the
School. Based on various international curricula,
it has been adapted to local needs.
The Shishu Pahel Paddhati © emphasizes child
initiated learning that encouragies the child
to plan and develop self-paced learning. In this
way, the child retains his/her natural self-confidence
and is provided with opportunities for physical,
emotional and social development. The classroom
are specially designed to create spaces in which
the child experiences the joys of reading, expression,
mathematics, music, movement, water and sand play,
art and craft. The complete teaching and learning
process is child initiated and fun.
At the primary level, teachers plan and design
"Curriculum Webs" to ensure every topic
in the curriculum is taught in its entirety and
is co-related.
At secondary level, innovative
methods and activities are developed to teach
the Maharashtra state prescribed curriculum. Lessons
at all levels are facilitated through an integrated
curriculum, supplemented by a variety of co-curricular
activities, field trips and class projects.
The complete teaching and learning process is
child initiated and filled with fun. The children
participate in number of inter-school activities
such as elocutions, debates, science exhibitions,
creative writing and the arts.
Education Philosophy
The School believes that:
-
Every child is potentially
an independent thinker, with an infinite
capacity to acquire knowledge
-
Given the space, children
are capable of constructing activities that
lead to effective learning outcomes
- Child-centered education is the achievement
of learning outcomes, wherein the pace and
content of learning is directed by the child
and supported by the facilitator (the teacher)
- Children learn most effectively through
collective reflections shared with peers and
facilitators and through group discussions.
