Q: Does my child need to be Asian to
attend your school?
A: No. In fact teh School is non-denominational
and accepts students from any nationality.
Q: Why should I send my child to the
Diamond Jubilee High School for Girls?
A: The School focuses on creating a lively and
engaging environment.. Theintegrated curriculum,
supplemented by a variety of co-curricular activities,
field trips and project methods, ensures a holistic
education that prepares students for life.

The School endeavours to facilitate quality education

Q: Should I be concerned that my child
may be influenced by another religion?
A: Not at all. The School thrives in a
secular environment. All religions are respected.
The School celebrates major religious festivals
such as Christmas, Eid, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan
and Holi.
Q: Will my child have a balanced education?
A: Yes. We believe in holistic growth and providing

Q: Will my child find it difficult
to adapt to your School or if she moves to an
international school?
A: No. Your child should be able to adjust without
difficulty as the School follows the Mahashtra
State Syllabus. All schools managed by the Aga
Khan Education Service in India teach according
to the Shishu Pahel Paddhati © methodology,
which emphasizes child-initiated learning and
encourages the child to plan and develop self-paced
learning.

Q: Is studying a local language a School
requirement?
A: Yes. Marathi, our regional language, is compulsory
for all students. Knowledge of Marathi is seen
as an asset for students studying in Mumbai. Speaking
Marathi will equip your child with the local lingua
franca, allowing her to be at ease communicating
in the city’s cosmopolitan environment.
Q: Will my child find it difficult
to adjust to the local students?
A: No. The School’s secular environment
warmly welcomes students from all walks of life
ensuring tolerance and acceptance by staff and
students.
Q: What if my child falls ill during
school hours?
A Sickroom and a First-Aid facility is available
in the School. If your child is suffering from
a serious medical condition, there are various
medical facilities within the vicinity including
our sister institution the Prince Aly Khan Hospital.
In such cases, the School policy requires staff
to inform the child’s parent or guardian
immediately.
Q: Will my child be provided with textbooks?
A: Yes, the School’s Book Bank facility
provides students with textbooks for the academic
year. Each academic year, the books are returned
to the Library for benefit of the other students.
This service was developed to assist a limited
number of students who did not have the means
to purchase personal textbooks.
Q: Do you provide transport facilities?
A: At the moment, most of our students
are from the School vicinity and parents/guardians
are responsible for transport arrangements.
Q: Do you provide canteen facilities?
A: The School operates in two sessions: morning
and afternoon shifts. Therefore, a proper canteen
facility is not required. Arrangements can be
made for students to have light snacks during
breaks within school hours.
Q: After successfully completing their
studies, what do your students do?
A: Graduates tend to pursue professional courses
in Fashion Design, Medicine, Architecture, Modelling
and other areas. Most of them pursue higher education
in India with a number going overseas.

Q: How do I enrol my
child?
A: Admission packages are available from the administrative
office from mid to end January. The admission
process includes a bi-lingual induction programme
for parents and an admission test for Class 1
- 9 candidates. At the pre-primary level, children
are interviewed by School staff.

Q: What sort of facilities does your
school provide?
A: The School offers an audio visual room, library,
indoor sports facilities and science and computer
laboratories.
Q: Do you take measures to ensure my
child receives a quality education?
A: The School has careful hiring practices in
place to screen and identify teachers. It also
has a vigorous training programme for teaching
staff. Under the teacher performance review programme
the Principal, Vice Principals and Head Coordinators
pay frequent informal visits to classes. During
formal visits staff receive a written report and
feedback on curriculum and teaching methodology.

Q: Do you offer co-curricular activities?
A: Yes, and the School considers it to be a very
significant part of the educational experience
that it provides. Various sporting activities
and clubs allow students to develop leadership
and organizational skills. These include field
trips, debates, drama, elocution, art, and crafts.

my child be involved in?
A: Students can join clubs in their area of interest.
Students with an eco-friendly inclination, for
example, can join the Nature Club or the Eco-Club.
Students committed to a social cause can join
the Interact Club. All clubs have serious objectives
and missions. All integrate serious projects including
excursions, field trips and projects.
