PJHS Girls make a near clean sweepPosted on 09 September 2009
Students of the Platinum Jubilee High School, Warangal made a near clean sweep in the Under 13, Under 16 and Under 19 Girls categories of the prestigious second annual Surabhi Manohar Rao Memorial District Level shuttle badminton tournament held on 25th and 26th July, 2009. A total of 600 players participated for the event.
Sheema of class 10 won three titles–Under 16 Girls Singles, Under 16 Girls Doubles and Under 19 Girls Singles at the competition. A.Soumya of class 8 won the Under 13 Girls Singles and also the runners up in Under 13 Girls Doubles, along with J.Ramya of class 8.
The two day event was inaugurated by the town Mayor E. Swarna. Surabhi Manohar Rao Memorial Trust founders - S. Anil Kumar and S. Kiran Kumar, Olympic Association Secretary - M. Swamicharan, District Shuttle Badminton Association President - Ravinder Rao, Secretary - P. Ramesh Reddy and other eminent guests graced the occasion. Addressing the participants Mayor Swarna encouraged the players to emulate the sports persons who have made the country proud with their talent and international achievements.
Mr. Ravi Verma, Physical Education Teacher did a commendable job in training these students. The school has always encouraged the young kids to kindle a spirit of sportsmanship and has put in all efforts ascertaining students’ participation in various sports events.
