Year One Open House, Friday 7th March, 2008
The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa cordially invites parents and children seeking entry into year one in September, 2008 to an Open House on March 7th, 2008. The day will include information sessions about the Academy and the application process, as well as an opportunity to meet with Junior School faculty and staff, and to participate in classroom activities. Please contact the Admissions Department for more information or to register. Space is limited.

Admissions
The Aga Khan Academies’ Network is being established to provide exceptional students from all backgrounds with an outstanding education. The first such Academy, the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, (AKAM) seeks students representing a diverse range of racial, economic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds who have the ability and motivation to excel academically and who demonstrate leadership in community service and other extra-curricular pursuits.
The Admissions Committee evaluates candidates based on a range of measures and selects those demonstrating a high level of motivation and commitment to learning, a strong sense of integrity, and respect for others from diverse backgrounds.
Successful applicants typically demonstrate the following characteristics:

Admission is competitive and based on student merit, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. The Academy makes every effort to meet the demonstrated financial need of each admitted student.
Application forms must be returned to the Academy along with copies of two last grade reports, copy of birth certificate or passport, evidence of vaccination (Junior School), and two passport-sized photographs.
Financial Aid
In light of the Aga Khan Academy’s fundamental belief in meritocracy as a driving force for democratic societies, admission into the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa is based on merit, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Students from all socioeconomic backgrounds who satisfy the requirements for entry are encouraged to apply. Partial to full financial aid is available to accepted students with a demonstrated need.
Financial aid awards are reviewed annually, and only renewed after reassessment of financial need.
