| Mrs Khan, our art teacher, asked the class
to go home and draw a plant in pastels. She then divided
us into groups of 4. Our group combined all our leaf pictures
then assigned each person, an area of the poster sized
picture to draw, colour and paint. We had 3 different
sized leaves for the foreground, background and centre
of the picture. We coloured and painted it with pastels,
paints and colour pencils. We also stuck on some animal
pictures to make it jungle-like. |

| Traditional clock mechanims make up this
painting. It is based on observation of the parts of clocks
and seen through my study of the cubist painter, Juan
Gris who fragmented the topic of his painting into echoing
shapes and used rich colour patterns to create new visual
harmony that was visually loosely akin to the topic. |

The Informed Carpenter

A cubist piece based on the works of Georges
Braque and Marcel Duchamp. The background inspired by
Duchamp's work with movement, depicts the motion of the
carpenters hammer striking a nail. The main focus is the
geometrical element of a hammer-head and how it is affected
by light. A collage of clippings from different articles
forms the carpenters newspaper and implies his keeping
up with current happenings while also paying tribute to
Braque. |
