"The best residential school environments are those that expect the most of students in terms of behaviour and leadership, places where peer influence is a positive factor, and where students mature into well disciplined, principled, and happy young adults."

Salim Bhatia,
Director of the

Facilities

The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, features state-of-the-art facilities carefully designed to enable interactive learning, including a wide variety of sports in an attractive and secure campus. Facilities include two libraries, fully equipped science laboratories, networked computer rooms, swimming pools, squash and tennis courts, a multipurpose hall, and outdoor amphitheatre.

The campus, set on an 18 acre (7.3 hectares) site overlooking the Indian Ocean in the Kizingo area of Mombasa, was inspired by Swahili architecture and built with great attention paid to the surrounding natural environment as well as esthetic considerations. Conceived by a renowned architect, the campus is designed to be attractive, self-contained and secure, and features a variety of best practices in facility design, including construction techniques that allow multiple uses of interior spaces as well as classroom environments conducive to interactive learning.
