An experienced, multicultural faculty
The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, identifies and recruits teachers of the highest quality who are committed to the all-round development of young people and to their own professional growth as excellent teachers. Faculty at the Academy must have at least a Bachelor’s degree and extensive experience in interactive teaching environments. Faculty members are expected to promote, through practice and personal example, an appreciation and understanding for other cultures, religions and traditions.

Professional development
An integral part of the Aga Khan Academy’s mission is to strengthen the profession of teaching by investing substantially in the professional development of teachers. A Professional Development Centre will become a key aspect of the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, and will provide ongoing, collaborative training of Academy faculty as well as teachers from neighbouring government, private and not-for-profit schools, thus creating a multiplier effect to enhance the quality of education more broadly. Each faculty member will have the opportunity to draw upon a broad programme of professional development courses, including general pedagogical skills, interactive learning techniques, and student-centered teaching methods. Promoting excellence in teaching, both on campus and in the broader region, is a fundamental goal of the Aga Khan Academy and serves continually to strengthen the quality and vitality of the Academy’s faculty .
