Enrolment
Information
Entry to the Aga Khan Academy is offered regardless
of background. Admission is competitive, and based on
merit.
Admission to the IGCSE. Course
Each September, the Academy admits about 60 students.
Students apply from Junior school in Grade 6.
Places may be available for Grade 7 leavers. Exceptionally
able students may be granted promotion to the
next higher class. Students from Aga Khan Schools
receive priority. It is expected that Grade 6
applicants are 11-12 years old.
Transfer from Other Schools
If admission is requested to a higher class on transfer
from another secondary school, the same procedures apply.
Arrangements are made individually if a place is available.
The School places students at the most appropriate
level upon evaluation of the requested transfer and matching subjects. Special consideration is
given to subjects where coursework is required.
Admission to the I.B. Course
Admission to the I.B. Course begins each September and
is usually based on school reports and recommendations.
Interviews are conducted in March or after O-Level
results are released in August. Students require at
least 6 credits (C grade or better) and A or B' in Higher
Level subjects pursued.
Conditional Admission
In marginal cases, a student may be offered conditional
(probationary) admission, where evidence of the
ability to benefit from the Academy programme
is carefully monitored.
Admission Test
An entrance test is held in mid-May for all applicants
except those from the Aga Khan Junior Academy,
whose admission requires a recommendation. This
test consists of papers in Mathematics, English
and Science and considers previous school reports.
In some cases interviews are conducted.
A number of places are also offered annually in January,
usually for Grade 8 (K.C.P.E.) leavers.
