Facilities
The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi has extensive facilities to enable students to succeed in the respective IB programmes.
Nursery School
The Nursery School provides the following facilities:
- Heated swimming pool
- Sheltered play area with safe play equipment
- Fully fledged library
- Music and Video room
- Resource centre for teachers
- Computer room
- Secure parking & school security
- Wendy house
Research and Laboratory Facilities
Senior School
A well-equipped Information Technology laboratory provided 30 computers networked with a fast server and high-speed internet access to enable students to browse the web and research material. The library has an extensive book collection and provides access to J-STOR and EBSCO - offering online access to thousands of journal titles in the humanities, social sciences and sciences.
In addition they have a dedicated IB study centre with computers and wireless internet access, a SMARTBoard to enable technology-based teaching, and three well-equipped science laboratories.
Junior School
A well-equipped Information Technology laboratory provides 27 computers networked with a fast server and high-speed internet access to enable students to browse the web and research material. Each classroom also has a computer to enable students to conduct inquiry in the PYP. The School has two SMART Boards that facilitate child-centered, interactive teaching.
In addition a new library has been built into a Resource/Media center to further enable the programme of inquiry.
Sports
The sports facilities include a swimming pool, basketball, soccer, hockey and volleyball pitches. For other sports such as cricket, squash, tennis and gym students can access the Aga Khan Sports Centre. A wide range of co-curricular activity is offered weekly as part of the School's five-hour enrichment programme, some of which is organised by students.
Canteen
The School operates canteen services with hot lunches and snacks available at reasonable prices.
Medical Services
First Aid facilities are available at the School. Our qualified first aiders can treat minor ailments, aches and pains. All First Aid administered is recorded. The Academy uses the services of AAR for specialised First Aid attention at School and for evacuation to the Aga Khan hospital.
