The Aga Khan Junior Academy,
Nairobi opened
its doors in 1970. It is situated in the Parklands
suburb of Nairobi.
The school accommodates about 300 students from
international and multi-cultural communities.
The school is open to all races, religions and
nationalities and is part of the Aga Khan Education
Service, Kenya (AKES, K). AKES, K has 100 years
of experience in operating schools in Kenya.
It currently manages 13 schools, all of which
are operated on a not for profit basis. Income
derived is utilized within the system for continuous
improvement of the curriculum, facilities and
for professional development of the staff.
The Aga Khan Junior Academy, Nairobi offers the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO). The Primary Years Programme is designed for students aged 3 to 12. The focus of the programme is on the development of the whole child in the classroom and in the world. The Aga Khan Junior Academy draws on research and best practice from a range of curriculum programmes to create an engaging and challenging education programme for our student population.
The school faculty is multi-cultural and international.
All teaching staff hold at least a graduate
degree. The School, with support from Aga Khan
Education Service, Kenya, is strongly committed
to promoting quality education. Continuing professional
development of teachers plays a vital role in
the school.
