Admissions

Admission is open to deserving students regardless of race, religion and culture. The School works to ensure that students develop positive attitudes, are self-disciplined, hard-working, and confident, that they are responsible citizens of their country and the world and that they are prepared to fit into society. Student wellbeing is monitored by a committee of teachers trained in Guidance and Counseling.

Admission Procedures
Aga Khan High School, Mombasa releases Form 1/Grade 9 Admission Forms (for the subsequent year) to Primary Schools in Mombasa.

Prospective students are interviewed and must write tests in January for the following subjects:

  • KCSE: English, Mathematics and Kiswahili
  • IGCSE: English and Mathematics


The school sets a bench mark (KCPE results) for admission criteria with an initial preference to students from Aga Khan Primary School, Mombasa.
Our school review’s KCPE input/output during the KCSE analysis and identifies valuable feeder schools.

The School offers scholarships to high achievers from all schools.

Rules for Admission
Students of Aga Khan High School, Mombasa are admitted on merit.  They are expected to demonstrate good performance throughout their stay in the school. The bench mark for promotion to the next class is an overall mean of C- for KCSE and an average grade C for the IGCSE.

If a student exhibits low performance during a particular term, s/he will be put on probation and monitored.  If no improvement is observed, s/he will have to repeat the class.

Repeating a class does not guarantee automatic admission to the next class. The student on probation must show steady progress and performance.
