Decades
Throughout the academic year the school organises exhibitions and competitions called Decades to recognize the beauty and importance of each subject. Decades last ten days according to the school calendar. Exhibits, films, and posters of key figures of the particular subjects are displayed in the school. The Last Bell Ceremony 2008The Last Bell CeremonyFirst and Last Bells
Keeping with school tradition, a senior accompanies a new student around the courtyard ringing a bell to signal the start of the new academic year on 1 September. AKES staff, teachers and students welcome parents and new students with speeches, dances and songs at the Ceremony.

At the end of the academic year there is a Last Bell ceremony usually in May 25. A variety of entertainments and students’ artistic performances are seen there. From 2007 AKS started graduating its first graduates. Congratulation speeches on this special occasion are delivered by school teachers, administration members, special guests, and students.

Critical Thinking Sessions
New and senior teachers attend sessions on critical thinking throughout the year and during the semester breaks. At present AKS has two critical thinking master-trainers who deliver sessions to newly recruited teachers. Follow-up sessions are conducted after the critical thinking sessions.

New Independent Learning Units
The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is working closely with teachers to design independent learning units for each course. They aim to include a set of units for students to manage their own learning and attain credit as part of the regular curriculum. These units encourage learners to develop self-instruction skills, researching on the Internet and using the LRC's subject reference sections.

Teachers Day
The first Saturday in October is a special day for teachers throughout the country. School students honour their teachers with flowers, poems and songs in tribute to their teachers. Students humour teachers and peers by performing short plays imitating their teachers. An official ceremony and party with food, games and dances follows. The event is organised by English language teachers and administrators.

“Day of Open Doors”
In April or May, according to the school calendar, the school conducts "Day of Open Doors" where all visitors or guests are welcomed. The main objectives of this activity are to share experiences, information about the school activities and school life. Visitors are given exposure to the school through a presentation by administration about the school, observation of integrated lessons conducted by the teachers and a tour around the school guided by  the students.

Government primary and secondary school students are introduced to the admission process, student activities, curriculum and co-curricular activities held at school.

Expansion of LRC usage
AKS Osh Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is now open to the wider community. Parents, teachers, students from different schools and community members are welcomed to the LRC.  They have an opportunity to use the modern equipment and resources of LRC.

The school is strongly committed to promoting and enhancing quality education in the Kyrgyz Republic through a modern LRC with support from the Aga Khan Education Service, (AKES, KR).

Summer CampDuring the summer camp, students took an initiative to clean the environment.AKS Summer Camp
The AKS Summer Camp was first launched in 2006. Since the first camp year, the primary goals have remained: to help participants develop their teamwork and leadership skills. Secondary goals are to help participants explore pluralism and civil society. A side from these, the camp is like any other positive experience: it’s a rich opportunity to discover oneself better and one’s relationship to others. Overall, the camp hopes to help young people develop more clarity, better thinking skills, and increased confidence and consciousness,
so as to serve themselves and their societies to unimagined success.

German Language Introduction
In September 2009 AKES in collaboration with the German Embassy introduced German Language lessons at the AKS. Grade 5 and 6 students started learning the German language. This will provide the opportunity for AKS students to study in Europe after graduating from the AKS and make tremendous contributions to the development of their country and the world.
