“Day of open doors”
May 14, 2005 the school conducted "Day of open doors" where 80 teachers and educationist from Osh region participated. The main objectives of this activity were to share experiences and to propose ways of improving the quality of education in Kyrgyzstan. Visitors were given exposure to school through the administration presentation about the school, observation of integrated lessons conducted by the teachers and tour around the school where the students of the school were guiding the visitors.


New steps in students’ admission
June 4, 2005 the school organized admission process. Its important to point out that for the first time in the history of the school, students from the Osh districts also participated in the admission process. Three best students from Alai, Karasu and Chon Alai districts received AKES district scholarship to study at AKS, Osh.


Government attestation
May 2005, AKS Osh went through government attestation. Representatives of the Ministry of Education of Republic of Kyrgyzstan, Osh Regional Education Department and best teachers from government schools, assessed all aspect of AKS work. The school successfully passed government attestation and got official right to issue certificate of incomplete secondary education.


Expansion of LRC usage
AKS Osh Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is now open to community. Every Saturday more than 20 students and teachers from Osh city are using the LRC facilities. This was two ways benefit initiative. From one hand it helped the AKS to improve relationship with other government schools and people of Osh got to know AKS better. From the other hand Osh people got opportunity to use modern equipment and resources of LRC.


President Akayev Visits Aga Khan School, Osh
President Askar Akayev visited the Aga Khan School, Osh on 23 January during his official two day visit to Osh, Jalalabad and Batken Oblasts. He toured the school premises, home economics room, gymnasium, computer class and the Learning Resource Centre (LRC). He was suitably impressed by the 6,000 books and resources in the LRC, many imported from Moscow. Highlights of his visit included observing students in cooking class and Grade 7 student Ilnur Gabrakhmanov, 13 reciting the 'Story of Manas'. Ilnur sang a passage describing how Manas fought the Chinese invading Kyrgyzstan. Before leaving, President Akayev took a photograph with staff and congratulated the school on its impressive design, quality of teachers and conducive environment.


Ten Days Of Kyrgyz And Russian
For 10 days in September and October, the School organised exhibitions and competitions to recognize the beauty and importance of the Kyrgyz and Russian languages. Exhibits, films and posters of major Russian and Krygyz literary figures were displayed in the School. The event closed with a competition in both languages with prizes for the winners.


First Bell
Keeping with School tradition, a senior accompanied the new student around the courtyard ringing a bell to signal the start of the new academic year on 1 September. AKES staff, teachers and students welcomed parents and new students with a speech, dance and song at the Ceremony. The highlight of the event was a student recital of the epic poem, Manas.


Critical Thinking Workshops
New and senior teachers attended a three-day workshop on critical thinking during the semester break. AKES sponsored the workshop organised by the school and the Critical Thinking Laboratory of Osh University. All participants received a certificate upon completion of the final examination.


New Independent Learning Units
The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is working closely with teachers and to design independent learning units for each course. It aims to include a set of units for students to manage their own learning and attain credit as part of the regular curriculum. This exercise encourages learners to develop self-instruction skills, researching on the Internet and using the LRC's subject reference sections.


Teachers Day
The first Saturday in October is a special day for teachers throughout the country. School students honoured their teachers with flowers, poems and song in tribute to their teachers. Students humoured teachers and peers by performing short plays mocking their teachers. An official ceremony and party with food, games and dance followed. The event was organised by English language teachers and administrators.
