Harvard Mathematics Contest 2012

The contest was held on Feb 12 2012 in Harvard, Boston and is specifically for high school students who have flair in mathematics and have excellent problem solving skills.
Two students, Ramanakumar Shankar and Parin Shah from Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi attended this prestigious competition and had to undertake intensive practice on different mathematical concepts like calculus, combinatorics, algebra and so on, before taking part in the contest.
The contest had three rounds:
1. Individual
2. Group
3. Guts round
The group from Kenya participated in all the rounds and achieved position 94 overall which was a great achievement for the students and the school.
In addition, the students had good exposure to problem solving techniques and also the opportunity to visit Harvard University.
