Established in 1998, the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School (AKHSS), Gilgit is a premier educational institution for boys, offering classes from grade VIII to XII. The spacious campus with adjoining sports grounds is purpose-built and surrounded by beautiful mountains.
In the 18 years since its establishment, around 2,000 students have graduated from the school and gone on to study at the leading national and international institutions of higher learning.
Today, they are serving as doctors, nurses, engineers, managers, principals, teachers, entrepreneurs and officers in the Armed Forces.

AKHSS, Gilgit offers the following academic disciplines:
Language Resource Centre
AKHSS, Gilgit has a Language Resource Centre (LRC) to improve listening and conversational skills. Every week students attend a session at the LRC with their language teacher.
AKHSS, Gilgit has a large, multi-purpose conference hall which is used by students and staff for rehearsals, events, student counselling sessions and educational workshops.
The school canteen is daily monitored by the school administration to ensure that the edibles are fresh, clean and healthy, and the environment safe.
Clubs & Societies
AKHSS, Gilgit recognises the importance of a well-rounded education. Inter and intra-school events, such as Qira’at, Na’at, essay-writing, debate, drama, quiz and sports competitions are regularly held to provide opportunities to students to enhance their skills and excel beyond the academia.
The school also strongly believes in improving student leadership, planning and organisational skills. Student clubs and societies include:
