Admissions and Placement Tests
GRADE 8
Placement Test
The objectives of the placement test include, but not limited to:
- Finding out the candidate’s level of understanding of basic concepts
- Determining the candidate's potential for further education
- Examining the candidate’s analytical and mathematical abilities
- Exploring the candidate’s linguistic competencies in English and Urdu
- Finding out the candidate’s ability to organise and present information about himself and his immediate surroundings
- Ascertaining a candidate’s level of knowledge about his extended environment.
Test Structure
Written test to interview ratio is 80:20. Duration of written test is 2 hours and thirty minutes. The test paper is divided into five sections. The weighting of each subject is as follows:
- English - 20%
- Urdu - 10%
- Mathematics - 25%
- General Science - 20%
- General Knowledge - 05%
GRADE 11 (First year intermediate)
Placement Test
The objectives of the placement test include:
- Finding out the candidate’s level of understanding of basic concepts
- Determining the candidate’s potential for further education
- Exploring the candidate’s linguistic competencies in English and Urdu
- Finding out the candidate’s ability to organise and present information about himself and his immediate surroundings.
Test Structure
Written test to interview ratio is 80:20. Duration of written test is 2 hours and thirty minutes. The placement test is structured in mainly two categories, covering the Pre-engineering, Pre-medical and Commerce disciplines separately. A candidate can sit for the test in one of the three disciplines:

Interview
On qualifying the placement test, the candidates shall be interviewed focusing on the following:
- Candidate’s aptitude and potential for growth intellectually, physically and socially
- Candidate’s interest and participation in co-curricular activities including sports, social and community service
- Candidate’s potential for leadership
- Candidate’s life ambition
- Candidate’s ability to express himself
- Candidate’s aspirations to become an AKHSS student
