Teacher Recruitment
Teacher recruitment is based on merit and on
a teacher's skills, experience and background,
as well as how the applicant's curriculum vitae
matches the requirements of the school. Teacher's
are expected to possess a Masters degree in
the relevant subject area with a minimum second
division result. Following a written test, short-listed
candidates are called for an interview.
Professional Development
An active programme of professional development
of teachers is an essential part of the School's
overall programme for continuous improvement.
The School actively participates in various
activities of the International Academic Partnership,
which comprises Phillips Academy Andover, USA,
the Schule Schloss Salem in Germany, the Aga
Khan University ’s Institute for
Educational Development in Pakistan and Aga
Khan Education Services.
Teachers also attend the Professional Development
Centre, North (PDCN) to attend mentoring courses.
The teaching staff also visit various renowned
institutions in the country in order form an
in-depth understanding of the strengths of various
school systems, including the American International
School Islamabad, Cadet College Hassan Abdal
and the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi.
Staff Appraisal
Besides requiring regular attendance and involvement
in various training programmes, the School follows
an intensive appraisal system to monitor the
progress of its faculty and staff. Staff appraisal
takes place periodically throughout the year.
A formal appraisal, which takes place at the
end of the year, analyses the following factors
in order to assess the performance of the staff:
- Achievements after the appointment
- Professional development and growth
- Quality of teaching
- Quality of pupils’ learning
- Quality of relationship with peers
- Professional responsibility.
