Q: Why study at an Aga Khan School?
A: The Aga Khan approach provides students with
holistic education (a balanced textbook &
co-curricular approach and affords social and
moral guidance). Aga Khan students are seen as
balanced life-time learners and can adapt well
to both private & public education systems
at their current level and as they further their
studies. The educators at Aga Khan Schools are
professionally trained and there is a high emphasis
on continued education.
Q: Should I be concerned that my child
might be influenced by another religion?
A: As per the requirement of the Board of Secondary
Education, Karachi, Muslim students have to sit
for the Islamiat examination whereas non-Muslims
opt for a subject from a range of available choices.
Q: Will my child be able to cope in another
Aga Khan School?
A: All the Aga Khan Schools in Karachi follow
similar curricula and schemes of work; hence it
would not be difficult for students seeking transfer
to other Aga Khan schools to adjust in the new
environment.
Q: Will my child be able to cope in any
other international or local school?
A: Since our approach involves students in a variety
of activities through group work and collaborative
learning, it would be very easy for students to
adjust themselves in schools that follow similar
approaches.
Q: After successfully completing their
Higher Secondary School Certificate, where do
your graduates go?
A: Our graduates currently pursue further studies
at various reputed institutions of higher learning,
including Institute of Business Administration
(IBA), Lahore University of Management Sciences
(LUMS), Ghulam Ishaque Khan Institute of Science
and Technology (GIKI), National University of
Science and Technology (NUST), Aga Khan University
(AKU), DOW Medical College and some universities

Q: What if my child falls ill during school
hours?
A: A trained nurse is available at all times during
school hours and caters to the medical needs of
students. If your child is suffering from a serious
medical condition, there are various medical facilities
within the vicinity including our sister institution
the Aga Khan Hospitals.
In cases of emergency, parents are informed immediately.

Q: What are the school timings?
A: School timings are:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am to 3:30pm
Fridays: 8:00am to 12:00pm
Q: Are students off on Saturdays?
A: Saturday is officially an off day for students.
But the School is open and both faculty and non-teaching
staff are present to address student concerns
or provide guidance with curriculum.

ADMISSIONS
Q: How do I enrol my child?
A: All admissions to the Aga Khan Higher Secondary
School, Karachi are merit-based. Entry is determined
by admission tests, interviews and Secondary School
Certificate (SSC) results or equivalent. There
are no quotas or reserved seats.
To be eligible for admission to Higher Secondary
Certificate Part-I (Class XI), male and female
students must have or expect to pass the Secondary
School Certificate or equivalent Annual Examinations
from any recognized Board / University. They must
obtain a minimum aggregate of 65% in the Science
Group and a minimum aggregate of 60% in the General

Q: What are the School fees?
A: Tuition Fee (Science group) PKR 3,500/- per
month
Tuition Fee (Commerce group) PKR 3,000/- per month
Q: Does the school offer scholarships?
A: We do not offer scholarships at the moment.
However, remission of fees is provided based on
need and merit.
Q: Does my child need to be from a particular
community to be admitted to the School?
A: The School encourages diversity and students
from diverse religious backgrounds are currently
enrolled at the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School,
Karachi. Admission is strictly based on merit.
Q: Is there a quota or priority admission
to the school?
A: All admissions to the Aga Khan Higher Secondary

A: The School recognizes the importance of a well-rounded

A: There are no free periods. However, the weekly
curriculum includes periods for library and recreation.

A: The School offers sports such as Volleyball,
Cricket, Football, Tennis, Table Tennis and Athletics.
Q: Are there separate teams for boys and
girls in the School?
A: Yes.

A: The School has a good Extra-Curricular record
with students participating regularly in Inter-School,

A: The School's vision is to emphasize the inculcation

language?
A: As prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education,
Karachi and the Directorate of School Education
it is compulsory for students to study the provincial
language (Sindhi) and the national language (Urdu).

do?

The Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan is one of the largest private network
of education institutions in Pakistan. It was among the earliest non-governmental
education providers in the region, establishing its first school in 1905 in Gwadar,
Balochistan. As a direct education provider, AKES, P operates 186 schools and
4 hostels and facilitates over 200 community based initiatives while working
with 100 public/private partner schools across Pakistan. These institutions
