Acknowledgement Day
In order to acknowledge the contributions of students towards learning during the year 2004-2005 the Junior Secondary Sections of Aga Khan School, Garden observed an acknowledgment day on Monday May 30th 2005. The day had been observed as a part of their normal day activity in the class. Students shared their reflections and learning experiences .The annual result has also given to the students on the same day in their respective classes. Every child received a token of acknowledgement for his/her participation towards learning during the year.
Cultural Day at ECD Section
ECD Section celebrated cultural day in the month of May to create awareness in students and help them develop respect of diverse cultures of Pakistan. All the students and teachers were enthusiastically involved in different art and craft and musical activities for last 2 months, such as pottery painting and decoration, rally making, cultural clothes designing, cultural dances and language familiarization. Parents were actively involved through out the program and were very keen to support the teachers and students to share their culture with them. At the end of this activity, an open house was arranged for all the parents where students, teachers and parents presented their respective language, dress, food items, life of style etc. Five stations were arranged for this day and each station was representing each province of Pakistani and its culture. All the guest and parents appreciated the efforts of students and teachers and they enjoyed it.
Milad
To pay respect to our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H) a Mehfil-e-Milad was organized on Saturday, 30th April 2005. Students offered Naa’t and delivered speeches in the honour of his (P.B.U.H) personality.
Shabana At Peace Conference
Shabana Abbas Ali, Class X is representing Pakistan at the Hiroshima peace study conference organised by The Pakistan India Peoples Forum For Peace and Democracy Islamabad/Rawalpindi. She is one of four students selected from across Pakistan.
"Right on" At Garden
The Human Rights Education Pakistan (HREP) came to AKS, Garden to introduce students to the Right On Club. This Club is focused on creating awareness on human rights, especially children's rights through its activities. A separate club was set up for boys and girls with five committee members per club. Students have participated in the 'Creating a national anthem for HREP' competition. The Girls Club won this competition and were invited by “Karvan-e-Karachi ” (an organization working to spread cultural heritage awareness) to present their anthem. During this programme, the Boys Club presented a skit on child labour.
Social Sciences Area Observes United Nations Day
On 23 October, the Social Sciences Learning Area observed the United Nations Day with a display corner, presentation, special programme and debates. Class VIII students presented a display on the UN’s structure, services, achievements and weaknesses. They organised a special programme for their peers. It included role-playing, reading poems and panel discussion on the UN’s role in maintaining world peace. Next was a debate followed by a PowerPoint presentation on the UN’s organs and subordinations by Class VIII and IX students.
School Elections
Keeping the School tradition, students elected their house captains and vice-captains on 1 October. Students were thrilled during the election build-up especially during the two days when candidates persuaded their peers to elect them with convincing posters and speeches. It was a serious affair with students casting votes at the Election Booth and results announced the next day. The Oath Taking ceremony followed with appointment letters presented.
Every year, students elect candidates to lead the four houses: Jauhar, Jinnah, Sir Syed and Iqbal. Named after renowned local heroes, the houses are managed by a teacher, Captain and Vice-Captain from Class IX and X respectively.
Sports
Junior Secondary Girls Section was declared the runners up in the Inter Aga Khan Schools Throw Ball Tournament held in September 2004.
Junior Secondary Boys Section won the Championship trophy of the Inter Aga Khan Cricket tournament held in Oct, 2004.
Junior Secondary Boys Section was also winners of Champions Trophy of the Inter Aga Khan football tournament held in December 2004.
Human Rights Education Program (HREP)
A Play named “Watan high School” was organized by HREP (Human rights Education Program) on 27 th September 2004 at Arts council Karachi . It was written and directed by the most famous play writer Mr. Muhammad Ahmed. The theme of the play was “Diversity of Religions in Pakistan ”. Aga Khan School Garden was one of the participating schools with 5 other schools of Karachi . Ten students from our school performed in the play. The performance of the students was remarkable and it was highly appreciated by the Chief Guest.
Roshni Programme on Pakistan Television
Students of Aga khan Schools (Garden, Kharadhar and Karimabad) participated in the quiz competition Roshni organized by P.T.V in the month of May 2004. Teams of Aga khan Schools won the trophy in both the competition. Students participated in Competition are Amin Anwer and Qurat-ul-ain from Aga Khan School Garden.
Earth Day
On the occasion of international earth day students of Aga Khan School, Garden engaged in many activities. Senior classes wrote messages for protecting the environment and discussed their role in doing so. Junior classes planted some plants to make the environment green. Middle classes organized a campaign for using dustbins and making the environment clean.
Garden ECD
On 20 th February 2004 the E.C.D Section of Aga Khan School , Garden organized the first Parents’ Seminar. The topic of the Seminar was “Social and Emotional Needs of a Child in the Early Years” and the speakers on the occasion were Mr. Sabz Ali Baig of Ismaili Tariqa and Religious Education Board and Ms. Shakira Ali Hameed of Montessori Training Centre.
Aga Khan School Garden ECD Section arranged an Annual Day on 18 th December 2004 where students showed their talent through role plays tableau, songs etc. Parents and guests appreciated the students and teachers’ efforts and in the end enjoyed the puppet show organized by the team of Ritz Theater.
Students Counselling and Career Development
The School is a member of the International Education and Resource Network.(iEarn) which offers scholarships to students to travel to U.S.A.

In the Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Programme, the secondary school students are provided with new opportunities to study at American high schools and live with American host families for one academic year where they participate in special enrichment activities, including community service, youth leadership training, a civics education programme and other activities that develop an understanding of American culture through interaction with a diverse groups of Americans. Likewise the students also act as cultural ambassadors to their American host communities where they provide them with the rich and vibrant culture of their home country. The YES students are able to both teach and learn, while strengthening their English communication skills.

Another is the iEARN BRIDGE EXCHANGE Scholarship. Through this scholarship, the students are entitled to participate in a 3-week of High School Studies in a US School and live with an American Host family.
The main learning objectives of these programmes are:
- Know how to communicate in the language/expressions and social context of the host environment.
- To observe the cultural differences and respect them the way they are.
