Facilities
School Library
The School has a well-established and modern library with quick and easy Internet access. It carries more than 7000 books on a variety of subjects and topics. The library subscribes to local, international periodicals and other daily, monthly and quarterly publications. In 2004, the School expects to completely refurbish and enhance the library with 2000 new books, furniture, air-conditioning and multi-media facilities.
Computer Laboratory
The School’s fully equipped 20-computer laboratory offers students access to audio-visual and printing facilities. The School emphasizes education through computers by encouraging students to include web-based research for various class projects and assignments. There are no dedicated computer lessons but teachers give students access to the computer lab when required.
Medical Services
A full-time registered nurse provides first aid treatment, conducts health classes and maintains students’ health records. The school doctor conducts an annual intensive check-up for each student once in two years. Parents are invited from time to time to discuss their child’s health and any medical problems identified during the medical check-up.
Health & Safety
To encourage an awareness of essential health and safety issues, the School organises different doctors and nutritionists to deliver presentations on relevant topics. Topics include ‘Lead Formation in the body’, ‘Personal Hygiene and Care’, ‘Adolescence’ and ’ENT Diseases: Prevention and Cure’.
Science Laboratories
For students to clearly develop and understand scientific theories, it is essential to practically experience them. The School has an adequately equipped science laboratory with equipment, apparatus, chemicals and required instruments for Biology, Physics and Chemistry experiments. To keep with latest scientific developments and knowledge the laboratory is being upgraded with additional physical space and new modern equipment.
Learning Resource Centre (LRC)
Early Childhood Education and Development Section has learning corners in the classes and a Learning Resource Centre which is a place where students and teachers can further explore the resources for their learning. The LRC has a vast collection of books, learning materials, computers and musical instruments where students and teachers can spend their time to enhance their learning along with their classroom activities.
Farm Area
ECED Section has a farm area where students enjoy growing plants and learning about nature by observing the developmental stages of the plants. This enhances students’ exploration skills, confidence and caring attitude towards the environment.
Sand and Water Area
ECED students love to visit the sand and water area where they enjoy and learn through play and have fun.
Resources for ECED students
The School’s Early Childhood Education and Development Section philosophy demands the quality facilities and adequate resources for successful delivery of the programme. Furniture in the ECED section is currently being replaced with student friendly furniture. The section has a water and sand area for ECED students to integrate skills development with fun for the younger students.
Resources
Besides regular training facilities, teachers are provided with additional resources to better enhance their teaching skills and personal education. The teachers’ resource area, equipped with reference books, computers and required material is available for easy access to advanced information.
Canteen
The School canteen offers a variety of food and snacks for students and teachers at reasonable prices. Food quality is closely monitored by the school administration.
