Staff at the Aga Khan Lycée, KhorogTeachers Recruitment
The Lycée, with support from the Aga Khan Education Service, Tajikistan, is strongly committed to promoting and enhancing quality education. Better-trained and skilled teachers provide a more varied, interesting and enriched learning experience for the young people.

The teachers are therefore carefully recruited through a rigorous selection process. Members of the school administration participate in the interview process. The teacher selection criteria include: competence and experience in the subject area, understanding of modern teaching methods, commitment to student-centered learning and adaptability to change.

Continuing Professional Development
Prior to the Lycée's annual commencement, all teachers participate in training conducted by the in-house professional development team led by a Professional Development Group (Master of Education graduates from the Aga Khan University’s Institute for Educational Development).

During the school year, one day per week (Methodology Day) is set aside for Professional Development. There are workshops on student-centered learning, English language and Information Technology.

The Lycée maintains an active partnership in the International Academic Partnership, an initiative with the Phillips Academy, Andover and the Aga Khan University-Institute of Educational Development, Karachi conducting playing a key role in delivering professional development courses.

Other partners include the American University in Bishkek and Osh State University for the delivery of English-language and critical thinking seminars. National partners include the Institute for Professional Development in Khorog.

Teacher Performance Review and Quality Education
The Lycée appraises its regular staff annually. During this process, each teacher is assigned a specific category (A,B,C,D) based on their teaching experience, their professional development participation and the quality of their classroom performance.
