A Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to the Aga Khan Primary School (AKPS). Our website will give you some information on our school, its’ procedures, policies, curriculum and community. Our aim is to provide our students with a high quality, well rounded school experience.

I believe that AKPS offers tremendous opportunities for all of our students. We hope to equip every child with the concepts, knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for success.

The curriculum framework of the Primary School is based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP). Real value is added through extra curricular activities such as music and sports. Fundamental to our programme is the recognition that children are natural inquirers who will develop socially, physically and educationally at different times and at different speeds. At the center of the PYP is a commitment to structured inquiry. The children participate in problem solving, asking questions, actively seek explanations and form hypotheses .

Even though our curriculum is based on the IB-PYP, compatibility has been ensured with the National curriculum of Tanzania and the Tanzanian culture.

At AKPS we strongly believe that education is a 3-way process where there is a partnership between Students, Teachers and Parents and each play an equally important role.
