Library
The two-floor automated Library has approximately 28 000 books, 220 Audio tapes, 200 Video tapes, 110 CD ROMs, 20 DVDs and a number of periodicals. The library has a sitting capacity of 70. Students can access periodicals, newspapers, online resources, CDROMs, audio tapes and videocassettes. The library’s OPAC system allows staff and students to efficiently search library materials on computer. The library also has an Audio-Visual room with Internet connectivity for research, where lessons are held.

Besides lending services, the library conducts outreach programmes (riddles, quiz competitions and Read-on Marathons). An integral initiative, these activities encourage students to use the library frequently. The School library is a member of the Tanzania National Library and British Council Library Services. Students can also access the Aga Khan Mzizima School library for additional resources.

Monday to Friday: 7.30am to 4.00pm

Computer Laboratories
The School has two fully equipped computer laboratories for Grade 1 to 6 students. The Junior Laboratory (Grade 1 - 3) has 28 computers with a student to computer ratio of 1:1. The Senior Laboratory (Grade 4 - 7) has 36 computers with a 1:1 student to computer ratio.

Science Laboratories
The School has an adequately equipped science laboratory with the apparatus, chemicals and instruments for Science experiments. The School allocates 50 percent of its Sciences instructional teaching time on hands-on laboratory sessions.

Art and Craft Room
The Art and Craft Room is equipped with art tools and accessories for drawing, painting and craft lessons.

Music Room
Upper Primary pupils have weekly 35-minute music lessons. The Music Room is equipped with gallatin, electric guitars, keyboards, marimbas, drums, flutes, pianos, recorders, clarinets, trombone and trumpets. The music programme encourages students to appreciate music and cultivate instrument-playing skills.

Multi-Purpose Hall
The School hall doubles as a facility for indoor sports and major school functions. Equipped with stage, sound facilities and a back balcony, it hosts most large-scale School events including Prize Day, graduation ceremonies and special assemblies. Sports activities including basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, martial arts training and indoor soccer are held here.

Resources
The School’s Resource Room is equipped with teaching and learning resources including reference books, games and educational tools for resource-based teaching.

Swimming
Swimming is part of the curriculum. The School ensures all its students are able to swim. A weekly lesson is scheduled for Grade 3 at no additional cost. Additional lessons are encouraged beyond this.

Sports
The School has two seven-a-side soccer pitches and an indoor and outdoor pitch for volleyball and basketball. There is also an accompanying indoor playground.

Field Trips
The School regularly organises local and international educational visits. They include trips to national and marine parks and scouting activities in South Africa, Namibia and Sweden. Through the Field Study Programme students increase their conceptual understanding of the environment and link theory to practical life. They experience geographical features, historical facts and environmental concerns first-hand and are exposed to diverse ethnic, cultural, social and religious settings.

Health and Safety
The School Health and Safety committee consists of teachers and security personnel who advise on health measures and precautions. Awareness programmes are organised for teachers and students with their safety constantly evaluated.

Medical Services
The School has a resident qualified nurse who attends to minor health problems and keeps student health records. All students undergo a full health check-up as part of the School’s Annual Medical Programme, records of which are kept by the school. In cases of emergency, government, private and the Aga Khan, hospitals are in close proximity.

Canteen
The School Canteen offers a wide range of snacks at breaks, lunchtime and after school at reasonable prices.
