Academic
Typically, 55-60 percent of the UCE students
achieve Division 1 passes and 85-90 percent Division
1 or 2 passes. Of all recorded grades, about 20
percent are distinctions and 65 percent are credits.
In 2004, Nishala Bandali scored the top rating
of 8 points (the range is 6 - 54 points).
At the Advanced level, about half the students
obtain 3 or 4 principal level passes to proceed
to the best universities. A further 25 percent
qualified for other tertiary institutions. Paul
Tayebwa was the top performer in 2004 with 20
points.
The first IGCSE results for the school will be
available shortly.
Sports
Two sports the High School excels in
are Cricket and Badminton. So far in 2005, the
School Cricket team is unbeaten in the province;
the Badminton players unbeaten in the nation.
Ronald Ssemanda, an S3 student, plays under-19
Cricket for Uganda, is currently best schoolboy
bowler, Uganda Sportsman of the Month (February
2005) and was part of a 4-man Uganda team in a
5-country regional Lawn Tennis tournament. Ronald
also plays for the School Table Tennis and Badminton
teams.
Community Service
In June 2004, High School students and
staff organized a high profile fund-raising for
the war-displaced children of northern Uganda.
Over $25,000 came in and has gone towards fencing
a night commuter shelter for the children and
for sleeping mats. Closer to home, High School
students peer tutor in the Primary School and
assist in an orphanage.
