Student and alumna selected for Seeds of Peace Programme in the UK
A student and an alumna from the Aga Khan Education Service, India were selected to represent the Indian delegation at the prestigious Seeds of Peace International Camp 2026 in Devon, United Kingdom (UK) which took place from 18 July to 8 August 2026. This programme brought together young leaders from diverse backgrounds and cultures, providing opportunities to engage in dialogue, strengthen leadership skills and become ambassadors of peace and positive change.
Among those selected this year was Khadeejah Darukhanawala, a Class of 2026 alumna of the Diamond Jubilee High School, Mumbai, whose participation marked the third chapter of her Seeds of Peace journey. In 2025, she attended their Regional Leadership Camp in Sri Lanka, where she developed skills in relationship-building and intercultural understanding. Earlier this year, she was also selected for their Negotiation and Mediation Programme in Scotland, further strengthening her ability to navigate complex conversations and foster constructive dialogue. Her selection for the programme in the UK reflects her continued commitment to becoming a global citizen.
"Since becoming a part of the Seeds of Peace community, I have experienced a profound shift in my personal growth,” Khadeejah said. “I no longer settle for the facts presented to me by others; I constantly ask why. This journey has taught me what it means to truly know myself – to be comfortable, honest and unapologetic about what I stand for. Most importantly, I have learnt the duality of leadership: the bravery to speak up for others and the courage to make space for myself when I need to take it."
During her time at the camp, Khadeejah deepened her understanding of global perspectives and diversified her leadership abilities. She hopes to utilise these lessons to create a lasting positive impact within her community and beyond.
Sanif Bhojani, a Grade 12 student at the Aga Khan School, Mundra, also attended the Seeds of Peace Programme in the UK after successfully completing a rigorous selection process. His participation reflects his leadership potential and commitment to creating positive change within his community.
For Sanif, this was his first Seeds of Peace experience, offering him the opportunity to engage with young leaders from around the world and further develop his leadership and communication skills.
"Being selected for Seeds of Peace is not just an achievement, but a responsibility – to represent my school with dignity, foster global understanding and contribute towards a more peaceful world," Sanif said.
Commenting on Sanif's achievement, Mr Hardik Kumar Sojitra, Vice Principal of the school in Mundra, said, "We are immensely proud of our student's selection in the programme. This achievement reflects not only individual excellence but also his dedication to fostering understanding, empathy and global harmony."
As Khadeejah and Sanif represented their schools internationally, they embodied the values of dialogue, service and leadership that lie at the heart of an Aga Khan Schools education. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to their peers and reaffirm the Aga Khan Education Service, India's commitment to preparing future leaders who will contribute to building more inclusive, peaceful and compassionate societies.
