The agreement was signed at the Aga Khan High School, Nairobi by Dr Mohamed Bamatraf, Executive Director of Murdoch University Dubai and Dr Rahim Somani, General Manager of the Aga Khan Schools. Dr Bamatraf also served as the keynote speaker for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme graduation ceremony at the Aga Khan Academy Maputo earlier this month.

Through the agreement, Murdoch University Dubai will provide scholarships to a select number of Aga Khan Schools’ students. The partnership will also create opportunities for broader collaboration and engagement between the two institutions.

“This partnership reflects our deep commitment to connecting talented students across Africa and beyond with world-class higher education,” Dr Bamatraf said. “The Aga Khan Schools has built a remarkable legacy of nurturing young people with strong values, intellectual curiosity and a sense of responsibility to their communities, precisely the qualities that Murdoch University Dubai is proud to welcome. By combining scholarships with shared academic ambitions, we are opening doors that can genuinely transform lives. I look forward to seeing this collaboration grow and to the many students who will benefit from the pathways we are creating together.”

Dr Somani shared how this partnership feeds into the Aga Khan Schools’ mission of creating future leaders.

“At the Aga Khan Schools, we are committed to creating educational pathways that are globally connected, future-oriented and rooted in strong values,” Dr Somani said. “Partnerships such as this expand opportunities for our students while strengthening our collective ability to prepare young people to navigate complexity, embrace pluralism and contribute meaningfully across communities and societies.”

With more than 2,500 graduates each year, the Aga Khan Schools continues to strengthen partnerships with universities and colleges globally to reduce barriers to higher education and expand opportunities for students across its network.

Alongside this agreement with Murdoch University Dubai, the Aga Khan Schools has established partnerships with universities across Canada, India, the UAE and the US. Additional agreements are also being signed with Toronto Metropolitan University, Royal Roads University – Ras Al Khaimah Campus and Seneca Polytechnic.
