Star swimmers of the Aga Khan Academy Nairobi sprint forward at the International Championships, Dubai

Two students of the Aga Khan Academy Nairobi Senior and Junior Schools competed in the Dubai International Aquatics Championships from April 2nd-9th, 2016.

Nairobi, Kenya – Two students of the Aga Khan Academy Nairobi Senior and Junior Schools competed in the Dubai International Aquatics Championships from April 2nd-9th, 2016. Kemunto Ongera successfully won a bronze medal in the 200m breast stroke in the 16-year age, female category. Meiba Seitchiping also advanced to the finals competing in the 200m individual medley and 100m breast stroke for the 11-year age category. Prior to the championships, swimmers across Kenya participated in a rigorous 3-round qualifying competition for the Kenya Swimming Federation, Nairobi Team.

The Dubai International Aquatics Championships (DIAC) is organized by the UAE Swimming Federation and is recognized by FINA - the international governing body of swimming. DIAC aims at providing athletes with the experience to compete in their discipline at an international level of competition, and is designed to host world-class aquatic events.

The Aga Khan Academy Junior School, Nairobi was established in 1970 and launched their Swimming Club in 2002. The school serves approximately 350 from over 30 nationalities. The school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and strives to create a harmonious balance between academic demands, sporting and cultural activities and community life.
