The Aga Khan Nursery School, Eldoret

Curriculum

The Aga Khan Nursery School, Eldoret follows the Kenya National Curriculum (CBC).

The curriculum is structured in different curriculum areas that include language arts, numeracy, science activities, physical education, music, ICT and nutrition, health and safety.

We also borrow a lot from IB/PYP framework which adopts inquiry based learning. The framework is structured in 6 transdisciplinary themes that guide the inquiry process. The themes include:

  1. Who we are
  2. Where we are in place and time
  3. Sharing the planet
  4. How we organize ourselves
  5. How we express ourselves
  6. How we organize ourselves

Under each transdisciplinary theme, each year level identifies issues they want to inquire into and comes up with a program of inquiry.

Co-curricular activities

The school also provides some co-curricular activities to support the holistic development of our students in the form of clubs.

Club activities are optional. Students are allowed to be in one club per term and are encouraged to participate in a different club the following term. Examples of clubs offered by the school include cookery, arts and crafts, scouting, dancing and more.

Club meetings take place on Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Each pupil is required to subscribe to one club and participate in its activities fully for a period of one year, as changes are only possible at the beginning of a new academic year.
